K1paddler , Dec 30, Hey folks, I've got a street legal XR with stock rear fender. I primarily ride dirt and I'm wanting to bolt the plate directly to the fender after ripping it off the previous mount that had the plate mounted behind the fender.

Anyhow, a couple related questions: I live in Virginia - Will this draw the attention of law enforcement if the plate is mounted there? Fender mount would require I slightly bend the sides down to marry to the shape of the fender, but still easily readable IMO. Any good ideas on how to mount a small LED light to shine on the plate when mounted like this?

I'd look for an XR tail light lense with the clear section in the lower rear to illuminate the tag. They're available. Hey thanks for that, good idea on mounting the plate with that mud flap rubber.

Yeah I've seen the lense you speak of, sold by procycle. I'd love to find one of those for the xr though. What a simple solution that would be.
